The St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Social Welfare and Religious Affairs in the Government of Southern Sudan has officially launched St. Mary's University in Juba.

The University will offer academic studies for southern Sudan population.

The St. Mary's University consists of the faculties of education, arts, social studies, and science and computer studies.

Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, the Minister of Gender, Social Welfare and Religious Affairs, Mrs. Mary Kiden Kimbo, praised the role of the Catholic Church in educating and providing essential services to the Sudanese community.

Mrs. Kimbo further urged all future students to work more on education and self-discipline.
