JUBA, 11 April 2012 - The Republic of South Sudan has declared that as of 9th April 2012, all Sudanese nationals living in South Sudan are foreigners and therefore will have to legalize their stay there.

This announcement came after Khartoum government yesterday started implementing an earlier decision they (Khartoum) reached that set 9th October 2012 as the deadline to strip South Sudanese nationals living in North Sudan of North Sudanese nationality.

“This decision we have taken is a good one because there are some Sudanese who still think one day South Sudan will be part of Sudan”, said Hon. Gen. Alison Manani Magaya, the minister for Interior. He asked the public to be calm saying that these are normal international procedures of immigration.
